Le Colloque de Géométrie est une suite d'exposés qui s'addresse aux membres de l'équipe Géométrie et courbure du Laboratoire d'Analyse et de Mathématiques Appliquées. Les exposés seront accessibles à une audience large, doctorant.e.s inclus.e.s. Les responsables sont Federica Fanoni et Ilaria Mondello.

Index theorems, traces, and bivariant K-theory
Index theorems, originating from Atiyah-Singer (1963), give fundamental relations between analytic invariants of elliptic operators and topological properties of manifolds. Combined with operator algebraic techniques, index formulae have successfully addressed deep questions including various cases of the Novikov conjecture on the homotopy invariance of higher signatures. In this talk, we follow the operator algebraic point of view and talk about how to extract numerical invariants from index classes in K-theory. We will develop and explain new tools in bivariant K-theory and describe an application in the context of index theory of foliations. This is joint work with Paolo Antonini (Università del Salento) and Georges Skandalis (Université Paris Cité).
